We "won" a Discovery Stay at Whitewater Village in a charity auction. Interested in the concept, happy to have contributed to a worthy cause, I am not sure we were even considering purchasing a share. Then we walked through the door the first time. The cottage was beautiful. The atmosphere cozy. Our kids were so excited to explore and decide where they were sleeping. I have to admit, I made way to the kitchen to have a look and remember thinking "they have better knives here than I have at home". We spent the weekend walking the trails, exploring the surroundings, reading and playing games and we knew it was a lifestyle meant for us.

Piece of paradise
I love WWV for the access to a relatively wild section of the Ottawa River. Not far from civilization, but ample opportunities for solitude. The club amenities mean that we don't need to purchase, maintain and commit to canoe ownership for example. It is there when you need it, and if you feel like kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding instead... No problem. Take your pick. WWV has given my kids an exposure to all of these activities as well.

Memories? Too many to count! Special birthdays, Christmas, New Year's, golf get togethers, snowshoeing excursions, kayaking groups, explorations on foot and by bicycle, saunas in the middle of winter, swimming. WWV has been the venue for so many wonderful times with friends and family. The laughter continues to echo throughout the cottage. A place to rejuvenate the soul!

Six years ago when we bought our first 5 week share at Whitewater Village we were looking for a cottage experience without the ongoing challenges and labour involved with being the sole owners of a cottage. Our experience of the natural beauty of the area, the warmth of the owner community, the luxury quality of the cottages and the wonderful amenities led us to buy two more 5 week shares in short order. We now spend close to a third of our time at Whitewater Village throughout the four seasons — a home away from home that is truly a retreat.

A little piece of Canadiana
Back in 2010, we were posted overseas, and discovered White Water Village on our annual summer vacation to Canada the year before we were to return. We were enticed at the all-Canadian vision of owning a cottage, but without the hassle of maintenance and up-keep. The cottages were luxurious (there is nothing we have gone without!) and beautiful, and we loved the environmentally friendly footprint, as well as all the amenities that WWV had to offer. 10 years later, our family has thoroughly enjoyed the cottage through every season. It has been our step away from the hectic pace of everyday life, and our retreat into relaxation, family time and fun with too many memories to count and many more to come.
